Keggle

A "keggle" is a portmanteau of "keg" and "kettle", and is used to represent a beer keg that has been modified to serve as a kettle for boiling wort. HomeBrewTalk has a nice entry for keggle on their wiki.

My keggle is electric, and about 95% complete. I have not documented the build up until this point, but will document the remaining bits (primarily the electrical work). The HBT wiki entry has a nice link to a video demonstrating how to make a jig and use a grinder to cut the top open; it took me a lot longer because I had no jig (did it by hand), and I used a Dremel tool. I recommend the process shown in the video.

TODO: Get a leadless solder kit, and replace the drain manifold with a soldered copper setup. Use a braided hose, over a drilled pipe to avoid crush. Consider replacing the DIY sightglass with one easier to keep clean.
